Open Letter to IWH
Adopted by ALAA Joint Council vote January 13, 2026
To Whom It May Concern:
The Association of Legal Advocates and Attorneys, UAW Local 2325 (“ALAA”), urges If/When/How management to immediately sign a voluntary recognition agreement with the United Workers of If/When/How.
ALAA is the oldest union of legal services workers in the country. Today, we represent over 3,500 workers in New York City and beyond. Every day, our members fight back against government violence and oppression. We strongly support If/When/How’s mission of protecting bodily and reproductive autonomy. Likewise, we support If/When/How’s workers - the people who make your essential mission possible - in their demands for a dignified, safe, and thriving workplace.
The ALAA Executive Board has been informed by the United Workers of IWH about their unionization campaign. We were gratified to learn that If/When/How intends to voluntarily recognize the union. Such an action would clearly signal your intention to reach a fair and just contract. We urge If/When/How to immediately sign the voluntary recognition agreement, and to expeditiously begin bargaining in good faith with the union.
Sincerely,
Lisa Ohta
