UAW’s Citizenship and Legislative Committee (CAP)
The Citizenship and Legislative Committee, most often referred to as the Community Action Program (CAP), is the political-legislative arm of the local union and the vital workplace political activator. There is a CAP Council working on political issues and candidate research at every level of the UAW and for every level of government in every area of the country where UAW members and retirees work and live. ALAA is a part of Region 9A’s New York CAP Council where local and regional political endorsements are made. ALAA is represented on the CAP Council by Lisa Ohta and Bret Taylor (Chair).
