Resolution in Support of the MFJ Striking Workers

WHEREAS, over one hundred workers at Mobilization for Justice (MFJ) have been on strike for nearly four weeks,

WHEREAS, MFJ management is offering miniscule raises, proposing an inequitable work from home policy, demanding healthcare givebacks, and refusing to provide adequate support and job protections for the most vulnerable workers,

WHEREAS, MFJ expects its lowest paid workers to live on just $54,093 per year, yet has the money to pay executives over five times as much,

WHEREAS, MFJ’s board members revel in the social cachet provided by their seats, yet degrade the very work that makes that cachet possible by suppressing pay, increasing workload, and promoting turnover,

WHEREAS, the gains won by MFJ workers will directly impact bargaining at other legal services shops,

WHEREAS, MFJ workers are fighting for an 18-month contract term to expire July 1, 2025,

THEREFORE, be it resolved that:

  1. ALAA members will continue walking the MFJ picket line,

  2. ALAA will continue responding to MFJ union requests for material support through its procedures,

  3. ALAA commends the resolve of the MFJ workers in their fight for themselves, their clients, and the entire legal services sector.
